Dear Fellow Members of the University Community,
As the fall semester comes to a close, and with finals approaching, our University's most anticipated event is just around the corner: Lighting of the Lawn. On behalf of the Lighting of the Lawn Committee, we warmly invite you to join us this Thursday, December 1, from 7 to 10 p.m. on the Lawn.
Lighting of the Lawn (LOTL) began in the wake of September 11th to bring the Charlottesville community together. Since then, LOTL has transformed into one of Charlottesville's greatest annual traditions, celebrating the great times we've shared, while also remembering the hardships we've overcome. Let us come together as students, faculty, staff, and families from all over the community to continue this tradition.
The event features performances ranging from a capella to dance, a poem reflecting the experiences of each class, and a light show to end the night. Lawn and Pavilion residents will be hosting receptions for groups from all over the University. Pavilions VIII and X will both be open to the entire community as a place to grab food, drinks, and warm up. There will also be hot chocolate and cookies on the Lawn for all to enjoy.
For a complete list of receptions, performers, and a livestream of the entire event, please visit www.lightingofthelawn.com.
This event has been made possible because of contributions from many individuals in our community over the past year. We are excited to welcome you to the Lawn tomorrow night to see their vision come to life.
