Opportunities to Get Involved at UVA

September 1, 2016
To:
All University Students
From:
Emily Lodge, Student Council President

Good morning,

On behalf of Student Council, I invite you to apply to serve on a University-wide Committee. The committees that are in need of student representation include:

  • Tuition Advisory Committee
  • Student Fee Advisory Committee
  • Calendar Committee
  • Naming Committee
  • Newcomb Student Advisory Committee
  • Student Climate Committee
  • Public Art Committee
  • Athletics Advisory Committee

A description of each committee can be found on the Student Council website.

Student representatives on committees have a great opportunity to work with the administration on key issues and communicate the student perspective. The commitment involves attending between two to four meetings during the academic year and submitting a summary after each meeting to Student Council that will be shared with the Student Body.

Applications can be found online and will be open until Thursday, September 8, at 5 p.m. For any questions regarding the application, please contact Sarah Kenny at sek8eq@virginia.edu.

I also encourage you to check out Student Council's HoosHub. In this handbook, you can find a list of 250 student organizations that will be accepting new members this fall. HoosHub also shows the organizations' dues, meeting times, competitiveness of application, and contact information if you would like to join.

I hope you use these opportunities to get involved and take advantage of all that our system of student self-governance has to offer! Have a wonderful school year, and please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help.

Sincerely,

Emily Lodge
Student Council President
