Welcome back to Grounds! I hope your summers have been amazing and that you are feeling recharged to start another semester at UVA. Student Council is excited to continue working on the projects we have been pursuing over the summer and to start working on new initiatives as students raise their concerns. This Student Council administration is committed to taking a policy-focused approach to student concerns. This summer we have made strides in pursuing the creation of a Police Student Advisory Board, the provision of free menstrual hygiene products in on-Grounds facilities, and the Community Food Pantry, among other efforts.
However, we are only as effective as we are responsive. If you have any concerns you would like to share with Student Council, please feel free to come to any of our public meetings held every Tuesday in the Kaleidoscope Room on the Newcomb Hall third floor at 6:30 p.m. Please feel free to visit our website and to email our Director of University Relations at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any comments, questions, or concerns! Office hours for various members of our leadership team, including my own, will be announced in our first bi-weekly newsletter this month.
In the meantime, I encourage you to stop by Student Council’s annual Fall Activities Fair this Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Amphitheater and on the South Lawn. It is never too late to explore the hundreds of organizations on Grounds! To stay up to date with what we are doing, follow us on social media (Facebook and Twitter ) and check our bi-weekly email newsletters. We look forward to serving you this semester and hope you have a great start to classes.
