Commemorative Zipper Pull for Final Exercises

October 13, 2016
Students in the Class of 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020
Kari Evans, Executive Director of the Bicentennial

Dear Students:

October 6, 2017, marks the 200th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone of Pavilion VII and the beginning of the University's bicentennial commemoration. The celebrations will continue through January 2019, the anniversary of the granting of the University's charter. As a special token for all students participating in Final Exercises in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, the University will add a commemorative zipper pull to your academic regalia. This metallic zipper pull will attach to the front of your robe and will be yours to keep as a memento of your graduation.

In consultation with a group of student leaders, we have developed three possible designs for the commemorative zipper pull. On Monday, October 17, you will receive an email inviting you to participate in a survey to select the final design. This selection mechanism will be open through Friday, October 21.

Please keep an eye out for this email invitation and please take the time to select your preferred design. The final design will be the one selected by a majority of students, and we will announce the winning design to you in a separate email during the week of October 24.
