Alex Cintron, Student Council President

Fellow Students,

I hope that you have had a pleasant first couple of weeks here at UVA! Now that you have started to settle into life on Grounds, I would like to invite you to apply to one of the many Student Council committees that seek to promote the rights, opportunities, and general welfare of students. I have found my time as a member of Student Council deeply rewarding, as I worked with students and administrators alike to craft policy for the prosperity of our university community. I highly encourage you to lend your skills and perspective to further these efforts.

There are more than twenty committees looking for passionate students. The work of the committees ranges across the spectrum of student life on Grounds, including advocating for academic policy changes, promoting the arts, lobbying for student rights in Richmond, overseeing the distribution of the Student Activities Fee, and supporting student organizations, as well as opportunities to make Student Council more efficient and responsive to student needs. There are many ways to get involved with Student Council, and it is my hope that you will find a committee that fits your interests.

I hope that you take the opportunity to apply. Applications for all positions are due on Sunday, September 16, at 11:59 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact our Vice President for Administration, Taylor Overton, at You can access the application here.
