Weather-Related Communication

Dear Students:

We are entering the season when inclement weather may affect the University's schedule.

In case of closures or other schedule changes, the University will communicate this information as soon as possible in the following ways:

To arrive at weather-related decisions, a team of University officials closely monitors developing weather conditions and assesses the expected impact on the University's infrastructure and facilities and the accessibility of Grounds, focusing on parking lots, sidewalks, and streets.

Even when classes are canceled, many core University services continue. These include patient care, University Police, Facilities Management and IT operations, food services, and access to libraries and recreational facilities. You can stay informed about available services by checking the above resources, in particular the Academic Division Operations Status Board.

When the University remains open but weather conditions are poor, special events may still be canceled. Schools and departments have discretionary authority to cancel or alter schedules for special events within their areas and should communicate these changes to students who are affected.

Thank you for taking time to be informed about weather-related communication. Best wishes as you finish up the semester.

Sincerely,

Allen W. Groves
University Dean of Students
