Welcome back to Grounds! I hope you had a good summer and that you are feeling recharged to start another semester at UVA. I am honored to serve as your Student Council President this year, and I hope that the initiatives my administration takes on will make UVA a more accessible University for every student.
Student Council is excited to continue working on the projects we have been pursuing over the summer and to start working on new initiatives this fall. This summer we have made strides in adding free menstrual hygiene products in more restrooms around Grounds, creating a new committee for financial accessibility, and providing a food pantry for students who stayed on Grounds. This year, my administration aims to continue and expand upon these initiatives and others as we work to serve the needs of all students at the University.
If you have any concerns you would like to share with Student Council, please feel free to come to any of our public meetings held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Newcomb South Meeting Room. To stay up to date with what we are doing, follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and check our biweekly email newsletters. Please feel free to visit our website and to email our Director of University Relations, Matthew Foreman, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.
In the meantime, I encourage you to stop by Student Council’s annual Fall Activities Fair tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Amphitheater and on the Lower Lawn. It is never too late to explore the hundreds of organizations on Grounds! We look forward to serving you this semester and hope you have a great start to classes.
