I hope this message finds you safe, well, and enjoying your fall classes.
In response to the University’s requirements surrounding COVID-19, you previously confirmed you are not living or learning on Grounds, in Charlottesville, or in Albemarle County this fall. We recognize how difficult this decision may have been, and indeed, a number of students have decided to reverse their decision in recent weeks.
To maintain our safety efforts, a deadline of September 30, 2020, is now in place for students who want to reverse this decision. If you are now deciding to live or learn locally, please make this change in SIS by September 30. For assistance in doing this, please write the Return to Grounds call center at ReturntoGrounds@virginia.edu.
If you do decide to reverse your prior decision, you will need to complete the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Measures, as outlined in SIS. This includes submitting a PCR COVID-19 test through the Healthy Hoos portal. You may order a free, mail-in self-test kit from the University’s vendor, Let’s Get Checked or schedule a test at your own expense. After you successfully complete all the requirements (you will see the hold lifted in SIS), you will be cleared to come to Grounds or the local area, attend in-person classes, and access UVA recreational facilities, library buildings, and dining services.
Additionally, if you reverse your earlier decision, your mandatory and student activity fees will be updated to reflect the higher on-Grounds amounts, which total an additional $660.
Thank you for adhering to this deadline if you do decide to reverse your decision, and best wishes for the remainder of the semester.
