Dear new undergraduate, graduate, and professional students:
Welcome to UVA! We are glad to have you joining this special community.
An annual tradition each year on this weekend is Opening Convocation, usually held in three parts: undergraduate students, graduate and professional students, and Honor induction. As a result of COVID-19, we cannot gather together on the Lawn this Sunday, but we have created a single virtual convocation ceremony for all new students that will air this Sunday at 6:00 p.m. The 30-minute program will feature music from the University Singers, a welcome address from President Jim Ryan, welcoming comments from the Presidents of Student Council and the Graduate and Professional Student Council, and the Chairs of the Honor Committee and University Judiciary Committee, a reading of the Seven Society’s letter to the Class of 2024, and a virtual signing of the Honor pledge.
This is a wonderful rite of passage for new students to the University, and I hope you will follow the links below to join us this Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
