Hello everyone,

I hope you all had an excellent break. My name is Spencer Whitney, and I am the Chair of the University Board of Elections (UBE).

If you want to change the University for the better and/or are dissatisfied with the status quo, I highly encourage you to consider running for an elected position in the Spring 2021 University-Wide Elections.

In Student Council, Honor, UJC, and Class/School Council positions, student leaders have a unique opportunity to make their mark on UVA and its future. As we slowly emerge from this pandemic, strong student leadership will be needed more than ever. For a list of available positions and their descriptions, please see the Spring 2021 Elections Guide.

If you are interested in running for an office, complete one of the following to be eligible:

  • Attend a Candidate Information Session hosted by the University Board of Elections
  • Take the short online candidate eligibility quiz

The Candidate Information Sessions will be held on:

  • Tuesday, February 2, at 7:30 p.m. at this zoom link
  • Wednesday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m. at this zoom link
  • Wednesday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. at this zoom link

The candidate eligibility quiz will remain open until February 16th at 4 p.m.

Only those students who attend either an information session or complete the online quiz will gain access to the registration form that is required for candidacy.

The Spring 2021 Elections Calendar, Candidate Information Session Presentation, and the UBE Rules and Regulations are all located at studentelections.virginia.edu. These are the main documents needed to complete the online eligibility quiz. Additional information regarding all available elected positions can also be found on the website.

I wish you all the best of luck as we begin the new semester, and if you have any questions at all, please contact [email protected].

Sincerely,

Spencer Whitney
