Dear Student:

Our records indicate you have not completed one or more of the pre-arrival requirements necessary for accessing Grounds. Until you complete all of these requirements, you will not be permitted to move into your residence hall. Please monitor your status in SIS and do not return until these requirements are cleared in SIS.

Often, the one requirement remaining to be filled is clearance from Student Health and Wellness for your pre-arrival testing. If you go to your SIS Dashboard and see a HOLD for "Not Living/Learning on Grounds," then Student Health and Wellness (SHW) has not received or reviewed your COVID-19 test result. If you submitted a test through Let's Get Checked and are still awaiting the results or uploaded a test result to the UVA Healthy Hoos Portal, you should continue checking your SIS dashboard to see if the hold is removed. SHW updates SIS throughout the business day.

If you have not begun pre-arrival testing, you should take care of this immediately. For more information on pre-arrival testing, please see the website. Testing – both pre-arrival testing and prevalence testing – is one of the best tools in controlling the virus. You are responsible for participating in this process and not cutting corners. You should not, for example, ask your roommate or a friend to give you access to the residence hall if your own access has not been activated.

As a reminder, these are the requirements all students need to complete:

  1. Indicating if you will live/learn on Grounds or attend any in-person programs during spring 2021
  2. Signing or affirming the Acknowledgement of Compliance with Public Health Measures
  3. Viewing (or affirming previous viewing) of safety video
  4. Final clearance for pre-arrival testing through Student Health and Wellness. (As described above.)
  5. Confirming mailing address

You must complete all requirements before returning to Grounds, and you may not move into your on-Grounds residence hall, suite or apartment until cleared in SIS. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Your door ID access will remain deactivated until you are cleared. The final deadline for completing all requirements is February 1; however, you have leeway to change your mind about living/learning on Grounds until February 8. After that day, any student still not cleared will have their ID card functions fully disabled for all University resources.

As you plan for arrival, you should leave plenty of time to complete these required steps, including avoiding delays associated with receiving the test result. We do not want you to arrive and be unable to get into your on-Grounds residence. If this does occur, we will provide you with a list of nearby hotels where you can stay at your own expense until you have completed the requirements.

If you have questions, please contact the COVID Information call center at [email protected] or 833-454-6902 (domestic), 1-202-800-2408 (international).

I wish you the best as you prepare to return to Grounds.

Sincerely,

Allen W. Groves
