Since mid-March, UVA has provided eligible students with emergency hardship support for travel, technology, food, medication, and other living expenses. The availability of funding through the federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act has enabled us to continue providing our students with emergency hardship support for these and other expenses related to the disruption of on-Grounds operations due to COVID-19.
All undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are enrolled in courses for the fall 2020 term, and who have successfully completed a FAFSA for the 2020-2021 academic year, can request funding for expenses related to the disruption of fall campus operations due to the pandemic.
Students should apply for CARES funding by completing the appropriate emergency funding application(s) based upon their specific need. Please note these applications will require Netbadge login credentials.
UPDATE for Winter Break/Spring 2021 CARES Funding
CARES funding remains available in limited amounts for students with continued campus disruption hardship for the time period between Thanksgiving and February 1st.
FALL CARES applications will remain available through December 4th after which the applications will be removed.
On December 7th, we will open up a new Winter Break/January Term/Spring application that will allow students to begin receiving assistance in late December.
Please note that the remainder of the CARES funding will likely be distributed by early February, so if you have existing CARES-eligible needs, please submit your application as soon as you’re able.
The application will be available on the Student Financial Services website.
