Dear Parents of Third-Year Students:
We would like to formally invite you to Third Year Ceremony, which will be held on Friday, November 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John Paul Jones Arena.
Third Year Ceremony is the premier event for the Class of 2019 occurring between First Year Convocation and Graduation. Alongside their fellow third-year students, this annual tradition gives your student the opportunity to celebrate his or her collegiate efforts and achievements thus far.
Highlights of the event include a performance from the Hullabahoos, speeches from President Sullivan and Dean Groves, and a keynote address from guest speaker Jung Kim, co-founder of Roots Natural Kitchen. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception during which those who have purchased class rings may pick them up. The reception will also feature live music and some light refreshments.
Please remember that there is no obligation to purchase a class ring in order to attend Third Year Ceremony. This event is open to all members of the Class of 2019 and their family and friends.
To provide a safe environment for attendees, the University has implemented a clear bag policy and is utilizing metal detectors for Third Year Ceremony. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us or go to the additional information pages on our website.
Some of you also may be planning to attend Fall Convocation and the awarding of Intermediate Honors in the arena on Friday at 2 p.m. This special occasion is open to all members of the University community. You can find more information on the Fall Convocation website. The same security measures will be in place for this event.
Bring your friends, share your memories, and celebrate with your student.
