To the University Community:
It is with sadness that I inform you of the death of Jessica Alston, a rising second-year student in the School of Nursing from Virginia Beach. Those who knew Jessica have said her kind, calm, and reassuring manner would have made her a perfect nurse. Jessica had decided to enter the field of nursing as a result of her father's experience serving on the U.S.S. Cole when it was attacked in 2000. She was especially interested in learning more about labor and delivery nursing and neonatal nursing.
Dear New Student:
Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Virginia! With the deadline of June 1 quickly approaching, this is a reminder to submit your photo online for the production of your University Student ID Card.
The photo needs to be "passport-like," showing your head and shoulders only facing forward, with a solid white or very light colored background. Photos can be submitted on the ID Card Office website.
Dear New Students of the University:
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Virginia. Soon you will come to Charlottesville to join our community, and we are looking forward to your arrival with great anticipation. Your presence among us and your participation in the academic enterprise will strengthen the University and add to the diverse human richness that defines life and learning here.
Dear Degree Recipient:
Tomorrow begins one of the most significant occasions in your life as well as in the life of the University. We will officially conclude the academic year by celebrating you, our newest degree recipients, during Finals Weekend. As you prepare to walk the Lawn on Saturday or Sunday, I invite you to consider for a moment how you would like this weekend to unfold.
Dear Parents of Graduating Students:
Finals Weekend represents one of the most joyful, meaningful moments in the life of the University. We look forward to welcoming you, other family members, and guests to the Grounds next week as we join in celebrating this milestone with your daughters and sons.
Dear Parents of the Class of 2021:
