April 25, 2017

Dear Students,

I am writing to invite you to the Student Memorial Service for the 2016-2017 academic year. The service will honor the lives of Rose (Rosie) Marie Randolph, Holly Edwards, and Melanie Wetzel. This will be an opportunity for our community to remember these students who demonstrated what it means to be engaged student-citizens at the University.

April 20, 2017

Dear Parents:

This time next month, your student will be preparing to walk the Lawn for graduation. I am writing with reminders about that special weekend as well as other, more immediate topics. Late spring is always a busy, exciting, and often stressful time for students, especially those who are graduating and planning for their next step. Courses end Tuesday, May 2, followed by a Reading Day and the start of exams on May 4. Exams end on Friday, May 12.

Year-End Updates for UVA Parents

April 20, 2017

Dear Parents:

It's a beautiful spring day at UVA – the time of year when the Lawn and gardens are filled with students enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Conversations about deadlines, papers, and coursework also fill the air since classes will end in less than two weeks, followed by exams and then the launch of summer plans. Given all the year-end activities, I am writing to share several updates and reminders for your general awareness and for planning ahead with your student.

Former Student Rose Marie Randolph

April 13, 2017

Dear Students:

I am writing to share the sad news that Rose Marie Randolph, a member of the Class of 2020 and Jefferson Scholar from Front Royal, Va., passed away on April 8. A gifted musician and softball player, she had many other interests, including human rights, robotics, reading, and international travel. She had previously studied under a full scholarship at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, R.I. She entered UVA last fall, but took a leave of absence during her first semester and had not returned at the time of her death.
