Staying in Charlottesville during Spring Break? Here are some fun things to do!

Visit Monticello for Free

Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, has extended free admission to all UVA students for this academic year. You can reserve your free ticket online or in person. Be sure to take your UVA ID when you visit. More details are on the Monticello website.

Facilities and Operations 

Residence Hall

Residence Halls

  • All first-year and upperclass housing areas, including residential colleges and language houses, will remain open during Spring Break (March 2-10).
  • All on-Grounds mailrooms (Bond, Lambeth, Page, Runk, Shannon) will be open limited hours from March 4-7 for package pick-up.
    • Residents will be notified by email when a package has arrived
    • Mailrooms will be closed March 2- 3 and 8-10
    • Regular mailroom hours resume on Monday, March 11 – see housing.virginia.edu/mail

Student Health and Wellness

Student Health and Wellness will be open for spring break, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m except for March 8th in which Student Health and Wellness will be closed.

In an emergency or life-threatening situation, please call 911.

If Student Health and Wellness is closed and you need to speak with someone regarding an urgent medical concern, care providers are always on call at (434) 297-4261. For an urgent mental health concern, CAPS has providers available at (434) 243-5150. Students can also access TimelyCare's "TalkNow" service to speak to a mental health professional in minutes, anytime. UTS Bus

Parking & Transportation

  • University Transit Service (UTS) will not run on March 2, 3, 9, and 10.
  • UTS buses will operate on their Recess Service schedule March 4-8:
    • Commuter routes (Blueline, Redline) run normally
    • Academic Routes (Gold Line, Green Line, Orange Line, Silver Line) run every 20 minutes until 8:00 p.m.
    • UTS Night Pilot does not run
  • UTS OnDemand will provide service 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., March 4-8.
