Winter Wind Down Events


Lambeth Commons

Residence Halls

  • All first-year housing areas (Alderman Road, Gooch/Dillard, McCormick Road) will be closed for Winter Break. Students and Resident Staff in these areas will need to find alternate accommodations from 12 p.m. noon on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
  • First-year students who need to return for J-Term (those enrolled in J-Term classes, international students, athletes, etc.) may return on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
  • All upperclass housing areas, including upperclass communities, residential colleges, and language houses (anywhere other than Alderman Road, Gooch/Dillard, or McCormick Road) will remain accessible to residents throughout Winter Break and J-Term.
  • All residence areas will open to students returning for the spring semester on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024.
  • Undergraduate on-Grounds residents who are graduating, going abroad, transferring, or will otherwise not be enrolled at the University for Spring 2024 should email [email protected] to provide notification. Students not returning must vacate their rooms by noon on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023.

Student Health Center

Student Health and Wellness

Student Health will be closed with no student access Dec. 25 - Jan. 1. We will reopen on Tuesday, Jan 2. For more information, please visit the Student Health and Wellness website.



 


UVA Bus

Parking & Transportation

University Transit Service (UTS) will offer the following service during Winter Break:

  • Dec. 26-29: Commuter Service (provides Health System Route service during holidays when clinics are still in operation, such as the workdays before Thanksgiving and after Christmas day. Only service for Blueline, Blueline Express, and Redline.)
  • Dec. 23-25 and Dec. 30 - Jan 1: No service

There will be no UTS on Demand service (formerly Safe Ride) Dec. 23 - Jan. 1.

Alderman Library

UVA Libraries

All University Libraries will be closed December 16 - 17 and December 23 - January 1. Other hours vary by date and location. View the Library Locations & Hours page for more information.

 

 


 


Aquatic and fitness center

Fitness & Recreational Facilities

All fitness and recreational facilities will be closed on December 23 - 26. Other hours vary by date and location. See the Virginia Recreation website for more information.

  • The Aquatic & Fitness Center (AFC) will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 18 - 22 and closed on Dec. 19 - Jan. 1.
  • North Grounds Recreation Center will be closed on Dec. 23 - 26 and Dec. 30 - Jan. 2.
  • Memorial Gym will be closed Dec. 16 - Jan. 16.
  • Slaughter Recreation Center will be closed Dec. 16 - Jan. 15.

Newcomb Hall Dining Room

Dining Services

UVA Dining will operate on a limited schedule from December 16 - January 13.

  • Newcomb Hall Fresh Food Co. will be closed December 16 - January 13.
  • Observatory Hill Dining Room will be closed December 17 - January 13.
  • Runk Dining Hall will be closed December 16 - January 13.
  • Other Dining Rooms and a majority of retail locations will be closed December 16 - January 13. Normal hours will resume on January 14.
