Dear Students:

I am pleased to share with you that Kenyon Bonner has been named UVA’s next Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer. He will join the University on Jan. 16, 2024.

Mr. Bonner will bring significant experience in the student affairs profession, both broad and deep, along with a long-term commitment to educating the whole student. He currently serves as Vice Provost for Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. Along the way, he developed strong relationships with students, beginning in 2004 as the Associate Director of Residence Life at Pitt. Over the past 20 years, he successfully rose through the ranks at Pitt, eventually becoming Vice Provost and Dean of Students, and then assuming his current position in August 2021.

As the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer for the University, Mr. Bonner’s duties will focus on supporting and advocating for all students. He will lead a division of approximately 300 employees. The division includes areas under the Dean of Students, Judicial Affairs, Department of Student Health and Wellness, Office of African American Affairs, Housing & Residence Life, and the University Career Center.
