Dear Students:

Monday, Nov. 13, marks one year since the lives of Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry were tragically cut short. To honor their memory, the University community will collectively pause midday for a time of reflection and remembrance.

Remembering Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry
Monday, November 13
12:55 p.m.
Chapel Bells

At 12:55 p.m., the Chapel bells will play a verse of “Amazing Grace” followed by three tolls of the bells, honoring each life.

The observance also will be livestreamed.

You may wish to be outside if you are near the Chapel. Many will gather at the Chapel or on the Lawn. Additionally, your school may have communicated with you about a gathering spot where you can join classmates, faculty, and staff.

Classes will be held as usual. If you need flexibility in your classes that day, please speak with your instructor.

We recognize many in the community continue to grieve these losses and the trauma they directly experienced. Support is available to students through Student Health and Wellness and TimelyCare, including a guide on Trauma Anniversary. Please seek out these resources if they would be helpful.

Sincerely,

Christopher P. Holstege
