We are entering the season when inclement weather may affect the University's academic schedule. The University's Chief Operating Officer, Pat Hogan, has the authority to make schedule modifications in consultation with Provost Tom Katsouleas and others within the University. As always, the top priority is the safety of our students and employees. During inclement weather, UVA officials monitor current weather and forecasts, considering the potential impact on various operations and the likelihood of keeping sidewalks, roadways, and parking lots open.
To Fellow Members of the University Community:
We are thrilled to personally invite you to the 17th Annual Lighting of the Lawn this Thursday, November 30, from 7 to 10 p.m. As this fall semester comes to an end, we hope you will join us in celebrating one of the University's most cherished traditions.
One of the key values that this University prides itself on is its commitment to student self-governance. Student self-governance adds much to our University's distinct culture every single day. From Class Councils and Student Council to Honor and UJC, student leaders are making their mark on our University and its future. If you would like to enrich the student experience here at our University, you should consider running for an elected position in the upcoming 2018 Spring University-wide Elections.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 30th beginning at 7:00 p.m. Student organizers have been planning for many months and coordinating with staff to create a memorable evening for the community with a theme this year of Be the Light.
Tomorrow is Election Day. I hope you will take the time to exercise your civic right to cast your vote for candidates of your choice. Please read more details below from Student Council regarding transportation options and polling locations.

As we prepare for a busy Family Weekend that will include many guests, a home football game, and earlier sunsets with the end of Daylight Savings Time at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, we write to remind our community about measures that all of us can take to promote personal safety.
Dear Parents of Third-Year Students:
We would like to formally invite you to Third Year Ceremony, which will be held on Friday, November 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John Paul Jones Arena.
