The Division of Student Affairs oversees the environment and programs that ensure the unparalleled UVa student experience, student self-governance, and culture of honor thrive at UVa. The division's broad-reaching responsibilities encompass all student organizations (contracted independent organizations, or CIOs), the student-run Honor and Judiciary systems, the Office of the Dean of Students, First-Year and Transfer Student Orientation, Residence Life, the Office of African-American Affairs, the University Career Center, WTJU Radio, Greek Life, Club Sports, Student Health, the Gordie Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and Newcomb Hall. In addition, the division is responsible for communications with parents and for programs such as Family Weekend.
University students are leaders, scholars, and visionaries. Student Affairs seeks to provide cutting-edge, best-in-class programs and services that help students to develop their talents and transform one another. This goal demands that UVa offer a thorough and innovative array of opportunities. The Campaign for Student Affairs will ensure that we have the resources to recruit diverse and talented students to the Grounds, to help them formulate and follow their dreams, to lead and serve in dynamic student-governed communities, and to make healthy, responsible decisions in their time here. With focused effort, we will ensure that UVa offers a truly world class opportunity to every student who arrives on the Grounds.
